Hi there! So what's your name?

Kate

Where do you call home?

Melbourne

What do you do?

I'm a Talent Acquisition and HR Consultant for small-medium businesses who want to build high performing teams.

Tell us your story

Growing up on a small, isolated island I always felt safe, secure, and comfortable. However, I also always knew there was a wonderful big world out there waiting for me to explore it. Working at my local IGA and on the family farm, I had instilled in me the value of hard work, optimism, and initiative from a young age. I moved out of home after my 16th birthday and in with my bestie to complete Year 11 & 12 as to where I lived didn't have that level of schooling. After completing a Bachelor of Business, including a gap year and living in the UK for a while, I was fortunate to land a graduate role in HR and Talent Acquisition with a high-performance consultancy in Melbourne. Whilst my unique, isolated upbringing on a farm on an island could have seen me not want to leave that cozy shell, my parents always pushed me to travel as much as I can and reminded me that home will always be here, but Venice is sinking! Whilst I'm in the lucky position to love my job and who I work with, I'm ambitious to keep learning, appreciate the small things, and be in a position to be able to give back. The older I get, the more I realise how important it is to lift others with you. Smarts will get you so far, empathy and tenacity will see you thrive. We're all in this together.

If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self?

Experiencing bullying at school as a teenager, I'd tell myself that these experiences are only going to make you into a confident, resilient woman but it's okay to ask for help when you need it. 'This too shall pass.'

What does "living freely" mean to you?

To me, living freely is living without fear. Whether it's wearing the bikini despite your insecurities, applying for your dream job where you only meet some of the criteria, or trying unfamiliar, scary activities like hot pilates! Living freely is about living life on your terms, feeling the fear, and doing it anyway.

Where can we follow your work and support you?
